Defining your event purpose: I learned that through out the strategic planning process that defining the purpose of an event can ultimately result in the success of your event. Always going back to the main point of why you are hosting your event plays a major role in the consistency and the strength of an event. After reading the case studies especially the Haskyne BBQ case I learned the value of over all strategic planning but this was one of the key components that I learned.

Event Technology: I learned that the value of event technology is continuing to increase. People are incorporating event technology into their events more and more because it is making their event planning process easier and providing opportunity to be innovate and get creative. Our field trip and exercise with social tables provided great insight to the importance of event technology. I loved using the tool and it was fairly simple to use to create a music festival for GW alumni. Social tables was a create field trip to have because it shows how much the event industry is growing. 


Informational Interview: Through my project I learned the value of an informational interview in the meetings and events industry. I learned that it is a great networking opportunity as well as a way to get to know someone in your field that you aspire to follow in their foot steps in the future. When conducting my informational interview I learned so many tips and take aways to apply to my own life both personally and professionally. It was also great that she made herself available as a resource for my job search and my future endeavors.
