Blog #1: IMF Spring Meeting: China in the Global Economy 4/16

Today I volunteered at one of IMF Spring Meeting seminars at Jack Morton Auditorium. I liked that IMF provided really nice volunteer jackets and badges for volunteers to wear as uniform at the seminars, so guests were able to easily find us for any assistance and questions. The seminar was schedule to start at 3:30pm. Volunteers got there an hour early to get assigned roles and be familiar with our jobs. In addition, UPD officers also arrived an hour early to set up tables and security machines. There were at least 6 officers for security check both at the entrance to check bags, and at the security machine for body scanning. The event was presented very professionally.

There was also refreshments upstairs for guests who arrived early so they don't need to sit at their seats and do nothing to wait for the seminar starts, but rather go mingle with each other. I have observed from going to so many events, that when you have enough budget, having food supplied at events will get higher guests satisfaction rate, and it gives guests time and chance to social with each other.

Since IMF Spring Meeting takes place at different locations including Jack Morton and Lisner Auditorium at GW. Multiple signs are displayed at every location to better direct guests to the designated meeting location, and also increase awareness in the community.
Overall, it was a very professional experience. Even though, I was a volunteer, but I got to observe so many details of the event planning process. Another good experience for me!
