The event that I
covered and that is in area of my interest was the Nic Roldan’s Sunset Polo &
White Party. Mark and Katherine Bellissimo, owners of The Wanderers Club
located in Wellington, Florida, hosted this year’s event. Being the horse
capital of the United States it was only fitting that this is where the event
would take place. Not only was this a social event but it also was a
fundraising event. The party benefited Brooke USA. Even as being a member of
the Wanderers Club I was very interested to see how they were going to pull off
such a large event. Overall, I was very pleased with how they did. The staff
handled and executed the event seamlessly. To me this event was fascinating
because it tied my love for horses and events together. As wanting to go into
the field of event production it was fun for me to observe all the “behind the
scenes” activities happening that maybe I would have not noticed if I was not
taking this class. The way the pool area was set up was breathe taking and it
did not look like the normal night by the pool. If I had one piece of advice for
next year, I would spread out the designated cash bar areas. Where they were
located this year made it easy for people to clump or gravitate to one side of the
pool/polo area. If they spread out the four bars they had it might have made
the party’s overall flow feel nicer.
