I went to the Jack Morton Auditorium at around 7:30 in the morning. I helped with table setups and gift preparation. The whole process was very rushed since the work started only about 2 hours before the event. There were breakfast and refreshment provided on the second floor. Options include, water, soda, coffee, tea, bagel, etc. Attendees were welcomed to go to the second floor at any time.
I was later in charged of the interview management. I took the interviewers to the designated tables and made sure they felt comfortable. Unfortunately, the second floor of the Jack Morton Auditorium had limited spaces, so many interviewers had to sit with another interviewers, and some of them did not feel too comfortable about that. Moreover, the length of the interview was supposed to be ten minutes, but many attendees and interviewers felt the time was too short, and they were unable to conduct a thorough interview. I tried my very best to coordinate the time, but it did not work out so well.
The best part of the event was the roundtable lunch. On Friday, more than 80 professionals in various fields of the sports industry join the lunch and shared their career stories and career development tips with us. I had the fortune to talk to a Octagon NBA agent and made the contact. I shared my internship experience with him, and he encourage me to keep doing what I am doing right now. I was able to make a few other connections with professionals and student attendees. There were many people to talk to, which made the experience very worthwhile.
The photo here is a group picture of all of the volunteers.
