Blog #1 Fangliang (Mike) Ding

The event I went to is a Washington Nationals baseball game. This is a group outing event for the SINC volunteers. Dr. Neirotti took this event as an opportunity for appreciation. More importantly, this is my first ever Washington Nationals game. I am not a baseball fan, so I can look at things more objectively.

The Nationals Park is metro accessible and easy to get to. I took green line to the metro stop, and the main gate of the park is right outside of the metro station. Upon arrival, the first thing to go through is security check. There were clear signage of what to take out and what to keep with myself, which speeded up the process a lot. Ticket scanning was also very quick. However, the staff was not very helpful. I asked her about my seating location, and she only pointed to a direction without saying any words. Fortunately, the staff in the ballpark area was kind enough to show me the route, and I was able to find my seat.

One thing I focus the most about game experience is food. The Nationals Park definitely stood out from many of the places I've been. Although the lines were very long, but there were a wide array of food options, giving the audiences the best experience.

However, as I mentioned earlier, the service can definitely be improved. My ticket included a 8 dollar concession coupon, but the staff did not know where and how to scan it. I ended up buying the beverage using my credit card, but that 8 dollar was definitely wasted.
