Alec Post #3 Reflection

This course has been a wonderful learning experience. I never really grasped what truly goes into an event and how much responsibility is placed in event managers. I really appreciated having all of our guest lecturers come to present their different fields and explain how much goes into their jobs. It sounded like the field was continuously expanding and there would be many opportunities within the event and meeting management field in the near future. I will never take an event manager for granted moving forward in my career and hope to remain understanding when an event does not go perfectly as there are many things that one person cannot always control. While the industry seemed interesting and innovative I found that this line of work would not be right for me. Handling that much responsibility and ultimately the reputation of a company based on how an event goes seems to stressful and I can see how some people would thrive in such an environment, but not me. Granted working in hospitality responsibility will have to be assumed somewhere as that is part of the job.  All in all I am thankful for all that this course taught me and would highly recommend it to anyone considering the field.
