Armani Young Blog Post #3
This course has been very interesting for me. It was my first Event Management class and I enjoyed it. I learned more then expected, and am glad I got to see what this concentration was all about. My top three things I learned in the course were seating styles, event software, and contract negotiation. I liked learning about all the different types of seating styles and feel that I will use them one day in my future endeavors. I would like to host IT meetings and meet ups for minority women in the future, and determining how the attendees will sit is very important. The event software portion of the class learning about social tables was phenomenal and really opened my eyes more to the event partnership with technology industry. Events are fun, and technology is exciting because it is a forever evolving process. Incorporating the two will help me in the future for developing meeting space when I eventually take over my moms firm. Lastly, the contract negation segment is something that I will use in the future. As a consultant I will work for myself and negotiate contracts that I will be on. If an agency needs my services a contract will be in place that initially may or may not be in my favor. Through contract negotiation I can request what I want and see if the client will oblige.
